Suzuki Marine Receives NMMA Innovation Award Honorable Mention
For New DF15A and DF20A Portable Outboards

The 2012 NMMA Innovation Awards were announced at the International Boatbuilder Expo and Conference in Louisville, KY. The awards, presented by the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Boating Writers International, recognize design innovation, consumer and industry benefit, value.

This year, Suzuki Marine received Honorable Mention in the Outboard Motor category for its new 15 and 20 horsepower four-stroke outboards. These outboards are the first in this class to feature electronic fuel injection without the need for battery power, and deliver easier starting, more responsive acceleration and smoother running. They also feature Suzuki Marine’s Lean Burn Control System, for improved fuel economy over a wide operating range.

At 97 lbs, these new outboards are more compact and the lightest in their class. In addition, they meet US EPA emissions standards and have received the Three-Star Ultra Low Emissions rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

“We are always innovating at Suzuki,” said George “Gus” Blakely, manager of planning for Suzuki Marine. “We feel these new engines are the future of small 4-stroke technology and appreciate the consideration of the judges.”
